You want to at least cover the cost of the food for you and your date.
You must have a general idea of what they're paying/plate based on the venue.
If it's open bar you bump it up more, since you won't be paying for drinks.
Considering she's your niece I would start at a couple hundred then go from there based on how nice the place is.
ALSO..... How much did you pay to get there? If they invite you and your wife and its a 1000 milemiles away?? Lol and you gottgotta spend 2g to fund the trip? Lol kindof eats into wedding gift.
If i gotta spend $$ to get there.. gift goes down. If not.. and its family? 500ish
Whatever you decide is fine, just put a note in the envelope that when they get a divorce, you want your money back!! Every wedding i have ever went to in my 58 years ended in divorce,i have a perfect record
don't bother going. interferes with gambling and they will only get divorced anyway. just mail a burger king gift card for 15.00 with a note saying your car broke down or some lame excuse. believe me, no one there that isn't an immediate close relative doesn't want to be there.
wow, great thread, thanks fellas. It is a "low budget" wedding so to speak, but I do not care, I love this niece and her soon to be husband is a tremendous guy. I'll hook them up,, thanks for the answers.
